This passion project incorporates a style I am familiar with, with a culture I am currently studying. I illustrated Jewish folktales from around the world, drawing inspiration from Nordic artists, such as Tove Jansson, for inspiration while pushing my personal style further. By combining the subject matter and style, I created something that was both endearing and magical, while maintaining an old “folk art” edge. The illustrations were colored using soft chalk pastel, then applied as decorative plates to be hung in the home.
